Diamonds and Pearls

A sparkling collection of short story gems - edited by Elaine Everest.
A perfect little book to keep by your bed or in your bag.

Each of the 34 stories is just long enough to engage the reader and leave them with either a smile or a touch of wisdom.

The contributors have a proven record of being published in popular magazines and many of these stories have appeared elsewhere.

Unfortunately a few typos have crept in, but these are more annoying than a distraction.

A typically British story seemed to have travelled to America, collected some words and returned without quite reaching the Statue of Liberty. And one story contained so many exclamation marks they demanded to be counted!

It might be unfair to highlight one writer, but Della Galton's Love and Chocolate had a real emotional tug - still reaching for the heart weeks later.

Niggles apart, this is a lovely book, full of charm and good hearts.

What a great initiative, bringing together these writers for such a wonderful cause - raising money for the Against Breast Cancer charity - just a shame to spot the errors.
